How to get to Akrotiri: Akrotiri is easily accessible by car or motorbike, or by a taxi or privately arranged tranfer. There are regular buses from Fira which is the bigger city in Santorini.

This settelement was developed during the Bronze Age and was one of the most important centers of the Minoan civilization that spreaded throught the Aegean Sea. Ancient Akrotiri was covered by volcanic ash during the erruption in the 17th century BC.
