The Alexandra Hotel is ideally located right in the heart of the village Nea Roda. It was here that Xerxes and his Persians tried in 480 BC to cross the peninsula of Athos by constructing the canal (length 2.5 km). Today, Nea Roda represents an important point for accessing the north side of Mount Athos peninsula.
